About Elise

Elise Blake is a violinist based in Washington, DC. She performs as a solo and chamber musician at the National Gallery of Art, the Washington National Cathedral, the Kennedy Center, Peabody Conservatory, and many area performance venues. Her orchestral work is with the Baltimore, Richmond, and Virginia Symphonies, and the Washington National and Washington Concert Operas.

Elise served for five years as string faculty at Mary Baldwin University and was awarded a Pedagogy Fellowship from the Heifetz International Music Institute. Currently, she runs a violin studio, South Adams Music, in historic Rockville, MD, where she lives with her husband David Murray, trombonist with the National Symphony Orchestra.

Elise was born and raised in New Hampshire and began piano and violin at age three. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Music in violin performance from Boston University's School of Music, and holds a Master of Music degree in violin performance from The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.
